Sleep Overs
My tween girl is turning into a teen with her 13th birthday coming up. She wants a big sleep over with all her classmates – yes all 30 of them! I don’t think I’m comfortable with boys and girls sleeping over – am I being overprotective?

My daughter wanted the same thing for her 12th birthday. I told her we could have a party with all her friends, but only the girls were allowed to sleep over. She agreed so the party began, we all had some fun and some games, then just before bedtime the boys were picked up.
At that age – heavens no! You are well and truly doing the right thing. I never let boys sleep over at my daughters parties, even when she was in primary school. You just don’t want to set yourself up for any problems. Parents are supposed to be there to protect their kids – even from themselves when they are too young to know what they are really doing.
The raging hormones of boys and girls left in one room over night – I wouldn’t dare!
