Pre-Baby Anxiety

I keep having all these anxious nightmares about our baby coming soon. What if I don’t have enough milk?

  1. I had really weird dreams too! I think it’s just your bodies way of saying get ready! As for the milk, in this day and age that isn’t really a concern. In the old days they had wet nurses to feed babies of mothers with no milk, now we have formula which has been engineered to be as close to breast milk as possible with all the vitamins and minerals your baby will need to grow healthy.

  2. If that does turn out to be the case do NOT let anyone give you a guilt trip about that! I had one nurse tell me I would never have a real bond with my children because I couldn’t breast feed – like that’s what a new mother really needs to hear! I was devastated! And mind you I now have two beautiful grown children that I love dearly, see often and have an excellent relationship with. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise!

  3. I couldn’t breast feed either of my babies but I could still give them those first few feeds of colostrum. Colostrum is milk you first produce for about three days that is really rich in the vitamins and minerals your baby needs. It’s apparently a funny colour too. I couldn’t feed my babies but I could at least do it for those few days which the nurse told me is the most important.
