Something Different
Published 9th June, 2010 5 commentsI have absolutely no imagination when it comes to cooking and my son is so sick of meat and potatoes.
Any ideas for recipes that would take us away from the usual fare. Maybe easy to make casseroles or something?

Here’s a great recipe for a casserole that my daughter loves, and its super cheap and easy.
TUNA FISH CASSEROLE CRUNCH
1 can tuna (any kind drained)
1 can condensed mushroom soup (I prefer Campbells)
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup macaroni cooked and drained (any curly pasta works)
1/3 frozen peas
2-3 handfuls of regular potato chips
Quick method
Preheat oven to 350. Coat a square casserole dish with marg or spray and add the soup, tuna, pasta, peas and milk. Blend with a fork just gently until ingredients are even but not totally mixed. Crush chips on top and bake uncovered for 45 minutes. Yummy!
** A great side dish to this casserole is to take shredded iceburg lettuce and toss with a mixture of sugar and regular vinegar.
Wraps are great because you can put anything in them and they can still feed themselves. Ground meat wrap, peanut butter, whatever… it will fit into a wrap.
I have recently discovered this site: http://www.soscuisine.com and LOOOOOOOOVE it. First of all, it’s a CANADIAN site. It sends customized weekly meal plans right to your inbox every Friday. It uses what’s on sale in the various Canadian flyers each week and you can tailor it to be “kid friendly”, a meal plan for beginner cooks or gourmet chefs, budget conscious, vegetarian, seafood free, etc etc etc. I don’t like all of their suggestions but have sound great new recipes for my family. Check it out!
I would google “best meals for kids” and it’s amazing what comes up, and I’m sure with your not so wild imagination that you WILL be able to even add your own twist to these!
this is a great website:
http://www.cuisine.com.au/recipe-finder/
it categorises everything into breaky, lunch, dinner. It also sorts recipes by cuisine – chinese, italian, croation… It also sorts them by what meat is in them, it also sorts them by diet – vego, egg free, gluten free… and it has a kid friendly section too
