Biting

OK, we got through four teeth coming in without biting. All of a sudden the last two days, baby comes in for a nuzzle while I am holding her in my arms and then… chomp… I calmly say no biting. But then again, and again. Lots of praise if I just get a nuzzle.
Any other tips before this gets more serious?

As soon as the biting happens, the snuggle (or other fun thing) ends. A calm “No biting” followed by putting her down and walking away. Staying clam will be the key. She really is just testing them out, but that doesn’t make it hurt less! I guess the problem comes when she bites her brother or a friend at school. A brief moment sitting alone?

  2. Do you mean biting while nursing or just she’s biting your hand or arm or something?

If it’s just your body, do what you said but add an “Ow.” “Ow! That hurts, NO biting.” Don’t yell but don’t be too calm either. The baby may jump and or cry a bit. You need her to know you mean business though.

If it’s while nursing, same thing but detach her from breast for a few seconds. I curbed my baby’s biting within a few days this way.
