Weaning after Breastfeeding

1

Hi,

I am happily nursing my almost 10 month old but am going to wean her onto milk in a sippy cup because I go to school in May and then start work in June. Not worthwhile to start pumping now. Want to keep nursing morning and night through the transition, and beyond. Husband home some days but may be away right before school. She has not had many bottles.
Should we wait until I’m at school and let him give her the cup, or should we do a trial day before we go or should I start now so it’s a more gradual process?

One Response to Weaning after Breastfeeding

  1. I tried to go gradually with both of my kids, but they sort of dictated how the weaning went. I dropped one feed a day, over about 3 days. Then dropped the next… over 3 days… and so on until I nursed mornings and evenings only. By the time I was down to the 2 feeds, the babe was no longer interested in nursing… they both wanted to be independent… which meant the milk shoppe was then closed.
    Good luck!
