We are looking to buy a video baby monitors and are wondering if any has had any luck with a particular type/brand?
We tried a 900mhz video monitor but we had interference from our wireless internet and the sound from the monitor would squeal if you weren’t in just the right position.
Thanks!

We have used the Summer Infant Day and Night Video Monitor for the past three years and love it! I was told by a friend that the monitor may burn out if it is left on for too long (all night – night after night) so I turn the monitor off after my wee ones fall asleep. I check in on them using the video on/off button. Another bonus is that I can hook two cameras up to one monitor using the different channels. This way I can check in on my babies and my toddler. The only problem that I have is that the sound quality isn’t fantastic. It costs around $150.00.

I have done without baby or video monitor. If we need to check, we check. And I hear her just fine in the night, in fact, I usually wake up just before she does in the early morning or in the morning. And lie there thinking should get up and do something but inevitably I get started and she wakes up.
If you’re on a budget, I would save your money.

also have and LOVED the summer infant monitor… it ended up being one of the top 5 baby things we owned as far as money’s worth. We have a small home however it is not about being too tired to go in and check… although that is certainly a plus in the middle of the night! However it is really more about sleep training and the fact that as soon as you go in and check them when they have just momentarily woken, you may be removing the opportunity to self-soothe back to sleep. It was so reassuring for me to be able to pop the monitor screen on when I heard her (without the volume on!) in the middle of the night… see that she was fine – nicely covered and no limbs stuck in crib rungs) and then let her fall back to sleep!
